Feral Interactive brilliantly adapted the game with the XCOM 2 Collection for a broader audience, encapsulating the War of the Chosen expansion and four DLC packs, ensuring players have the full experience at their fingertips. As developers, Firaxis and Feral Interactive have carved out a niche with their pedigree in creating rich, strategic environments that capture the imagination and challenge the mind.

The alien-inundated landscapes of XCOM 2 are a canvas for both despair and hope in its storytelling. As you take control of the Avenger, your mobile base, the game seamlessly blends narrative and gameplay. The planet is overrun, and humanity's remnants must rise from the ashes to challenge the alien oppressors. The art style embroiders this bleak future in a tapestry of ruination and resistance, which is accentuated by an audio landscape of haunting soundscapes and frenetic combat crescendos. Every gunshot and alien shriek sharpens the immersive experience. The gameplay mechanics are deep and rewarding, allowing for a variety of playstyles, from brute force to stealth and cunning. Players can forge their path with specialized units and guerrilla tactics to challenge the alien regime. However, XCOM 2 isn’t without its impediments. Load times can be sluggish, and the occasional graphical glitch may momentarily dispel the illusion of tactical immersion.

Even with its few imperfections, such as the steep learning curve that may deter newcomers, XCOM 2 stands as a monument to the strategy genre. How to play?

🎮 Step 1: Start a new campaign in XCOM 2 Collection, and choose your difficulty level. If you’re a series rookie, it’s recommended to play on ‘Rookie’ or ‘Veteran’ to get a handle on the gameplay mechanics without overwhelming challenge.

⚔ Step 2: Familiarize yourself with the Avenger, your mobile base. Here you’ll manage research, build items, and recruit and train your soldiers. Take time to understand each section – it’s the backbone of your war effort.

👽 Step 3: When you engage in your first combat mission, remember it’s turn-based. Each unit has two actions per turn. Use the first action to position your unit and the second to perform tasks such as attacking or going into overwatch, where they shoot enemies during the enemy turn.

🤖 Step 4: Tactical positioning is crucial. Utilize cover to decrease enemy hit chances and flank your enemies to increase your hit chance and critical hit rate. Verticality can also provide a strategic advantage, so climb buildings and cliffs when possible.

🔧 Step 5: Research and development are essential. Back at the Avenger, make sure to constantly have research ongoing to unlock new weapons, armor, and gadgets. Assign engineers to build facilities and increase productivity.

👤 Step 6: In every mission, aim to complete objectives while minimizing risks. Loss of soldiers can be devastating. Use concealment at the start of missions to set ambushes, and always try to have a contingency plan in case things go south.

📈 Step 7: As you progress, manage your soldiers’ abilities and bonds carefully. Promoted units unlock classes like Ranger, Specialist, or Sniper. Customize skills to fit your tactics, and remember to pair compatible soldiers to harness the bond system's advantages.
